Clinical Career


CAPE FEAR VALLEY HEALTH—Fayetteville, North Carolina

Dr. Zappa currently serves as the chair of Emergency Services for the Health System and the Academic Chair for the Cape Fear Valley/Campbell University Emergency Medicine residency program. He not only leads the department administratively, but still works clinically in what is one of the busiest EDs in the country. Prior to taking over as Chairman in 2014, he served as the Executive Medical Director of the department from 2012.


JUPITER URGENT CARE—Jupiter, Florida

As a founding partner of JUC, Dr. Zappa always maintained clinical privileges there, and in 2010 he took over as Medical Director to lead growth. He served in this capacity and as a clinician until he sold the center in 2014.


PALMS WEST HOSPITAL—Loxahatchee, Florida

1995 through 2010, Dr. Zappa served as Chief Quality Officer and Chairman of Emergency Services. During his tenure, the ED enjoyed tremendous increase in market share, and a leading reputation for quality and patient experience. From 1995 through 2010 he served as Chairman of the Quality Council. As an active member of the medical staff, he maintained a full clinical practice and served over 10 years in physician leadership from secretary/treasurer through Chief of Staff.
